Variegated Shell Ginger (Alpinia zerumbet variegata) is similar to the regular Shell Ginger except that it has green and white variegated leaves. Whilst it does produce similar, attractive flowers, it is grown mostly for the year-round colour provided by the foliage.
It grows to about 3m high and forms large clumps over time. Ideally it should be planted in part-shade.
The plants we supply will be trimmed down to a bare-rooted rhizome for postage. The amount of variegation on each leaf varies from plant to plant.
