These sturdy little Bird of Paradise plants are over 1 year old. They are currently grown in 140mm pots, although they will be unpotted and posted bare-rooted.
If they are given adequate water, compost and fertiliser, they will grow large fairly quickly. However, they can be slow growing in times of drought.
These plants will require full sun in order to flower well when they are older, but are fine in pots in the shade when they are younger.
They will grow over 1m tall and at least 1m wide. They can be spaced about 1m to 4m apart in garden beds, depending on the look you are creating.
Also known as Bird of Paradise, Strelitzias are famous for their striking flowers that last well on the plant or as a cut flower.
