Our pink torch gingers are just beautiful. They have lush tropical foliage that is normally about 2-3m high, although they can get to 5m in good conditions. Each summer they produce stems of pale pink flowers from the base of the plant. We leave our flowers on the plant, but they do make excellent cut flowers too.
We only have a limited number of these plants. They are provided as bare-rooted rhizomes, as the plants themselves are too large to post. Each rhizome will have fresh, healthy growing points so they should re-shoot quickly after planting. You will need to keep them moist, particularly for their first Summer, and apply an organic fertiliser such as dynamic lifter to accelerate their growth. Once the rhizomes are growing well, it is good to mulch them well to conserve water and keep the roots cool. They do like warm to hot weather, with shelter from direct sun and wind.
Torch Gingers look great in pots as a lush foliage plant but we have found that unless the pot is very big they tend not to flower whereas when they are planted in the ground they flower reliably.
This price is for a bare-rooted plant that is suitable for posting. If you'd like to pick up and get a plant in it's pot, we usually have 200mm, 250mm, and 300mm plants available in a range of torch gingers from $25 to $100 depending on variety and size.
