These beautiful swamp lilies are native to Queensland, the Northern Teriitory and New South Wales. They do grow on Norfolk Island as well, although it is unclear whether they are native or introduced to that area.
They grow to be large, lush plants. Many reach just over 1m high, and in rare cases they can reach up to 3m.
They make an attractive feature plant in the garden, and can be grown in a part shade position either in garden beds, pots or along the edge of ponds or dams. The flowers are large and fragrant.
The plants that we supply are not full grown, but as they are fast growing they are better planted whilst they are still a manageable size. We send the plants as bare-rooted bulbs. The foliage may be trimmed, but will grow back quickly particularly in the warmer months. At the moment the plants we have are about 20 - 30cm high and have about 6 leaves.
