Crinum bulbispernum are large attractive lilies from South Africa that make excellent garden or pot plants. They grow to about 1m tall by 40cm wide.
They are also often referred to as Orange River Lilies. This is in reference to the name of the river not the colour of the flowers which are pale pink with dark pink to red stripes on the petals.
In their native habitat they grow wild along the banks of streams and watercourses. Whilst they are ideal for growing on the edge of garden ponds and in damp parts of the garden, they will also survive long periods of drought once they are established and they can also be grown very successfully in large pots or in most part-shade to full sun areas of the garden.
They can withstand extremes of temperature, from -5 through to 40, although their leaves will be burnt by frost.
Overall they are problem free and easy to grow and will reliably produce large balls of pink flowers several times over spring and summer.
The plants we supply are well over 12 months old but the bulbs are not at flowering size yet. The plant you will receive will be a bulb with its leaves trimmed back. You can plant it straight away into well soil in a pot or in the garden and it will grow to flowering size in a couple of years.
