Native red back ginger is a beautiful under story plant originating from mountainous areas in NE Queensland.
It grows to over 1m tall and will form clumps of lush plants over time but is not invasive. It looks at its best planted in shady tropical gardens. It is primarily grown for it's beautiful leaves, but it also produces attractive white flowers followed by blue berries. All parts of the plant and berries are said to be edible.
The plant you will receive is a young plant but it still may have to be trimmed back slightly for postage. The rhizome should be planted just under the soil and watered well until it is established, but after that time minimal watering or care is required.
